Why is Jaimal Patta Palace famous? It is about the palace of the Jaimal Rathore and Patta in the Chittorgarh fort where third Jauhar was performed.
Jaimal and Patta's Haveli is present in the Chittorgarh fort. These are the same Jaimal and Patta who sacrificed their lives while fighting with Akbar's army and whose memorials are present near the gates of Chittor.
Jaimal and Patta were closely related to each other because Jaimal's sister Phool Kanwar was married to Patta. When Akbar attacked Chittor in 1567-68, Maharana Udai Singh left for the hills of Udaipur, leaving the responsibility of the Chittor fort in the hands of Jaimal.
The third Shaka of Chittor happened in the month of February in 1568 AD. In this Saka, about 8000 Rajput warriors along with Jaimal and Patta were martyred while fighting with Akbar's army.
In this Saka, Patta's wife Phool Kanwar performed Jauhar along with many Rajput women. It is said that this third Jauhar of Chittor happened in this mansion, as a proof of which even today you can see soot on the walls of this mansion at many places.
Now the entire construction of this mansion and its premises has turned into ruins. Only the remains of the walls are left all around. The main mansion is three-storeyed, with beautiful Gokhdas (windows) on all three sides of the upper floor.
Now the temple of Kankali Mata is established in this mansion, due to which this mansion has turned into a temple. There is a big pond in front of the mansion which is called Jaimal Patta Ka Talab.
When you go here and come to know about its history, the scenes of Jauhar flash before your eyes.
