Why is Samod Palace famous? It is about the famous palace present in Samod town near Chomu in Jaipur where many movies and films have been shot.
Samod town near Chomu is famous all over India due to its historical heritage and culture. Here, along with the grand Samod Palace and Samod Bagh, one old fort is also located.
The main palace complex is built in the form of a multi-storey mansion with many squares. There is a multi-storey construction around every square in which corridors and rooms are built.
After three squares, there is a grand Sheesh Mahal. The present Samod Mahal was built in 1550 AD at the time of establishment of Samod town. In the initial years, this palace used to be in the form of a fort but later it was converted into a mansion-like palace.
The construction of this fort was started by Rawal Sheo Singh, son of Kachwaha King Prithviraj Singh (First) of Amer State. It is said that Sheo Singh was the first Rawal of Samod estate.
Biharidas, who had the title of Maharawal, also contributed a lot in the construction of Samod Mahal. In this way, many kings have contributed in the construction of this fort.
In the nineteenth century, Rawal Berisal converted it from a fort into a magnificent palace. After Rawal Berisal, Rawal Sheo Singh expanded the palace and built Darbar Hall, corridor and Sheesh Mahal in it.
This expansion of the palace added to its grandeur. While there are handmade paintings in the Darbar Hall, there is a grand glass carving in the Sheesh Mahal.
An old fort is built on the mountain near the palace. It is said that a secret path from this palace goes to that fort. There are about three hundred stairs to go up to the fort. Beyond the fort, this path goes to the famous temple of Veer Hanuman ji.
