Udai Sagar Lake History, it is about the History of Udai Sagar Lake where Maharana Pratap and Mansingh negotiated before battle of Haldighati.
The construction of Udaipur's Udai Sagar Lake was started by Maharana Udai Singh in 1559 AD. Along with the lake, he also built the Udai Shyam Temple and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple.
It is said that a saint used to live on the hill above the dam, inspired by whom Maharana Udai Singh built the Bheruji Temple near the dam, the Dhuni Mata Temple in Dabok and the Shiva Temple in Nandvel.
Maharana Jagat Singh built a palace next to the canal near the lake gate. During the time of Maharana Raj Singh, Aurangzeb demolished some temples built around the lake.
Maharana Fateh Singh built the Udai Niwas Palace on the Medi Magri of Lakadwas village near the lake and some turrets for hunting. Medi Magri is the site of Ahar civilization from where the remains of pottery of Ahar civilization have been found.
The embankment of Uday Sagar lake is the place where a feast was organized for the Yuvraj Man Singh of Amer who came to make peace with Maharana Pratap in 1573 AD before the battle of Haldighati.
In this feast, instead of Maharana Pratap, his son Kunwar Amar Singh came. Man Singh was very angry when Maharana Pratap did not come.
