What is Debari Samjhauta? It is about the famous historical agreement of Debari which was executed between Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur estate in 1708 AD.
Debari of Udaipur is a place where a historical agreement was made which is called Debari Samjhauta. Let us understand this whole incident.
Actually, when Mughal emperor Aurangzeb died in 1707 AD, a war for succession started between his sons.
In this war, Sawai Jai Singh supported Shahzada Azam, and his brother Vijay Singh supported Shahzada Muazzam. Shahzada Muazzam won this war and became the emperor by the name of Bahadur Shah I.
After becoming the emperor, he snatched his kingdom from Sawai Jai Singh and made his brother Vijay Singh the king and changed the name of Amer to Mominabad.
Similarly, the kingdom of Ajit Singh of Jodhpur was also under the control of the Mughals. To get their kingdom back from the Mughals, Jai Singh and Ajit Singh went to the Maharana of Udaipur to seek his help.
Thus, in 1708 AD, i.e. a year after the death of Aurangzeb, an agreement was reached in Debari between Maharana Amar Singh II of Udaipur, King Sawai Jai Singh of Amer and King Ajit Singh of Jodhpur, which is called the Debari Agreement.
According to this agreement, the armies of the three princely states will jointly fight the Mughals and capture Jaipur and Jodhpur and hand them back to Jai Singh and Ajit Singh.
Also, King Sawai Jai Singh of Jaipur will marry Chandra Kunwar, daughter of Maharana Amar Singh II of Udaipur and the son born to them will become the king of Amer.
