Why is Rawat Haluji Chauhan famous? It gives information about the warrior Haluji Chauhan of Barjal in Rajsamand with his Garh Smarak on a hill.
The history of Rawat Rajputs is associated with valor and courage, due to which they have a special identity in the Kshatriya society. There has been a valiant warrior named Haluji Chauhan among Rawat Rajputs, who has an important place in history.
He is also known as Haluji Barjaliya due to being a resident of a place named Barjal near Devgarh in Rajsamand. It is famous about him that he did not accept anyone's subordination while alive.
It is told in history that in the 17th century, the feudal lords of Devgarh wanted to build a fort on the hill of Barjal, which Haluji opposed by saying that if a fort is built on the hill, the dirt will flow down.
The feudal lords ignored Haluji's opposition and started building the fort, which led to a situation of conflict. It so happened that whatever the feudal lords built during the day, Haluji would demolish it at night.
When this happened repeatedly, the feudal lords got tired and left the fort incomplete on the hill and made their residence in Devgarh, 5 km away from this hill.
While leaving this hill, the feudal lords made Haluji swear in the name of Kuldevi Ashapura Mataji that he would not touch the fort. Haluji kept his word and without touching the fort, he tied a cloth around his waist and demolished a large part of it.
In this way, Haluji did not allow the fort to be built on the hill. Even today, this half-finished fort exists on the hill of Barjal, the remains of some of its towers are still visible.
Haluji's descendants live around this hill. In the year 2003, a statue of Rawat Haluji Chauhan was installed on one of the towers of this fort and this place came to be known as Haluji Chauhan Garh Memorial.
